New course from 3-year-olds.
Make music a gift for a lifetime! Through Piano and Electone playing, we nurture the ability to enjoy music freely.
Three-year-olds children love to imagine. Four and five-year-olds children grow the ability to discern music. (hearing skills) In Yamaha's lesson, they will start to expand imagination through music and nurture the sence of music.
Children have periods when certain abilities undergo significant development. Because the lessons are tailored to the child's growth, it becomes possible to maximize the enhancement of skills that develop at that particular age.
At the age of three, children enter a special period where they immerse themselves in the world of imagination and become capable of expressing themselves with a certain flair. It is important to have a rich input of experiences of exposure to and enjoyment of quality music, so that they can express themselves without being shy in the future.
In PRIMARY for 3-year-olds, children not only listen to and sing music from various genres while envisioning images but also have fun playing the piano or electone, incorporating elements of play. We highly recommend starting this journey from the age of three, for families who wish their children to cherish music as a lifelong treasure and aspire for them to become proficient in playing musical instruments.
When it comes to playing a musical instrument, adults tend to think whether they can move their fingers quickly or they can read scores.Yamaha Music School believes that "playing" is not limited to these abilities, but that it is important to have an image of "how you want to play" and to be able to play with feeling while listening carefully to the sound. Accumulating the experience of "playing" without strain will lead to a rich performance expression unique to the child.

Four and five-year-olds are in a period of “expressing themselves more and More.” By listening to, singing, and playing music during this period, children will be exposed to a lot of high-quality music. This is the time when they can develop a rich imagination.
Listening skills can be greatly enhanced when children receive lessons that are optimized for the peak of growth in their ability to discern music. By repeating notes such Do-Re-Mi that they have learned by singing on the piano or electone, they will be able to recognize the notes they hear by the end of the course.
In addition to the musical experiences that only group lessons can provide, such as performing in front of friends or in an ensemble, children will develop their individuality and musical skills by receiving detailed performance instruction in individual lessons.
The program based on the method of ‘imitation and repetition’ – this is how children easily learn at this age, imitating their teacher, by listening, singing and playing, children enrich their music vocabulary and knowledge of music.
At the end of JMC, students are encouraged to take the Fundamental Skills Survey. The survey is designed so that students, as well as the teacher and parents, can confirm whether the comprehensive musical abilities, like hearing, singing, playing and reading, have been acquired. Have you ever heard that the playing music can enrich one's mind? Or heard that making music enhances intelligence? It has been scientifically proven that practicing music has a positive influence on the brains and hearts of children.
However, children are busy with school and other studies, so that even those who are interested in practicing music may have no time for practice. Moreover, many children and parents worry that musical skills cannot be developed unless the learner starts very young.
To ease those apprehensions, Yamaha has started the Music Friends Course, a new program for elementary school children.
The Music Friends Course is unique in that it has a combination of both group and individual learning concepts weaved into the lessons. The methodology and concepts allow children to progress and learn at their own pace, with stress-free lessons. Moreover, children get the full enjoyment and fun of making music together with friends while mastering basic musical skills. The lineup of course subjects designed for this new course embraces the unique education methods, accompanied with well-known pieces rearranged for fun learning. In addition, continually updated supporting materials help further enhance the music learning experience.
In the YPC lesson, students will learn in an easy and effective way and will develop comprehensive piano playing abilities from introductory to advanced level.
YPC allows Yamaha students to learn not only ‘playing’ the piano but also experience other musical elements such as ‘listening to performances’, ‘develop score reading skills’, ‘analyzing’, ‘creating accompaniments, improvise’ and 'enjoy playing in ensembles'. They will become not only great performers with opportunities of concert participation, but they also will develop their creativity and learn how to compose their own music.
